Coastal Trek Health & Fitness Resort (British Columbia, Canada)
Having just returned from a Destination Spa Vacation you will find that your friends, family and co-workers will be curious about your newfound energy and healthy glow. Many of you will be returning to busy schedules that find you, once again, trying to find a healthy work/life balance. Armed with your new knowledge and passion for all things healthy why not host a Healthy Hospitality Party? What better way to continue on the path to improved fitness and well being than by introducing some of your new habits and routines to the people you care about.
Follow these simple steps to create an unforgettable afternoon that will have your guests motivated to join you on your new path:
- Send invites to the people you spend the most time with. By putting the message out to the most important people in your life you will be enlisting their help in sticking to your new routines. Specify that guests should wear comfortable work out clothes so they can participate in the activities you have planned.
- Design a menu rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. You should have plenty of inspiration to draw on from your meals while on your retreat. Many of the DSV spa's send home recipes or have their own recipe books full of ideas.
.Cut fruit and vegetables make great edible centerpieces that are functional and beautiful.
- Post an itinerary so guests can anticipate what the afternoon or evening will hold. This gives people a chance to get excited and feel more prepared. Post rules if it is a new activity so everyone can be on the same page.
- Activities that are fun and get people moving might be: badminton, basketball, ultimate freesbie, belly dancing, touch football, soccer, etc. anything that gets everybody out and having fun. After you are finished let guests know approximately how many calories they burned. It is fun to put it into real life terms For example "now that you have been chasing this ball around for the last 45 minutes you have earned 1 turkey burger with a side of coleslaw!" Lets keep going another ½ hour and earn ourselves some dessert!"
- Have recipes printed for guests to take home. It is always fun to make over traditional recipes and compare the healthy changes.
- Have a little take home gift that inspires your guests to keep motivated. Perhaps a re-usable water bottle or pedometer. Attach little tags with quick facts that are related to the gift. For example: Did you know by taking 10,000 steps a day you are decreasing your chance of developing heart disease by 75%.
- Most importantly get the message to your guests that you are planning on sticking to your new habits and that the new you want them to
join you!
