2005 Spafinder Readers’ Choice Awards
Spafinder readers have spoken, choosing Destination Spas as the “Best Of” in several categories including fitness, accommodations, spa cuisine, and programs. The winners of the 2005 Readers' Choice Awards are spas that garnered top accolades from readers. Despite being a small sector of the spa industry, Destination Spas were honored in most of the categories and dominated the overall results.
Destination Spas are dedicated to creating an entire environment geared towards fitness, healthy eating, relaxation and renewal. Spafinder readers overwhelmingly rewarded Destination Spas for their strong programming efforts by nominating Destination Spa Group members in almost every award category.
The largest honor was for Destination Spa Group members to be awarded three out of the four “Top Spa by Size” Crystal Awards. According to Spafinder, the crystal awards “represent the crème de la crème of the spa world” and reflect overall favorites rather than specific categories.
• Best Small Spa – Green Mountain at Fox Run in Ludlow, Vermont
• Best Midsize Spa - Rancho La Puerta in Tecate, Baja Mexico
• Best Large Spa - Canyon Ranch in Tucson, Arizona
In the international ring, Crystal Awards were presented to the following:
• Best in Mexico – Rancho La Puerta in Tecate, Baja Mexico
• Favorite in North America – Canyon Ranch in Tucson, Arizona
Destination Spas comprised 60% or more of the winners in the following Category Awards:
• Best of Hiking
• Best of Yoga
• Best of Fitness
• Best Cuisine
• Best for Going Solo
• Best of Mind-Body-Spirit programs
Overall, fifteen Destination Spa Group members were honored with a Reader’s Choice Award: Canyon Ranch in Tucson, Canyon Ranch in Lenox, Cal-A-Vie, Rancho La Puerta, Red Mountain, Golden Door, Lake Austin Spa Resort, New Age Health Spa, The Oaks at Ojai, Deerfield Spa, Green Mountain Spa, Chiva-Som, Tennessee Fitness Spa, Hills Health Ranch and Green Valley Spa.
