The spa is in a lake house that overlooks the rest of the resort. With over 100 massage, body, and skin-care treatments and therapies on the menu, men and women of all ages will find something that suits them. The healing treatments use herbs grown in an organic healing garden that spans a large section of the resort’s property. The pool barn, which houses a junior Olympic–size pool, has towering vaulted ceilings, slate-blue paneling, and big, old-fashioned barn doors and windows. Guests stay in rustic cabins that are connected by narrow pathways marked by arcs of wisteria vines.
A favorite signature treatment at the spa is the Jasmine Java, a reviving scrub, body masque, and massage. It begins with a gentle, natural foaming exfoliant made from organic espresso and citrus oils. Next, the body is cocooned in wild-orchid extract (the powerful antioxidants renew skin’s natural defenses). The treatment ends with a massage, which uses exotic jasmine, organic ylang-ylang, and a cocoa, coffee, and shea-butter crème. Treatments can be requested in an outdoor garden suite (known as the Bamboo Room, which offers a hot tub, waterfall, and gardens surrounding a treatment cabana), an indoor suite (everything is private—you get a tandem treatment room and a shower and bath), or a larger cabana or porch (this holds a family or group). After a weekend at Lake Austin, you’ll feel as if you’ve knocked it down a notch. Now, refreshed and revitalized, it’s back to reality.
